Archived: Pinocchio
Pinocchio is not a real boy, but he is not an ordinary puppet either. When the Blue Fairy revives a wooden doll, an adventure begins for Gepetto and Pinocchi in which Gepetto will have to reconsider what it means to be a father, and Pinocchio will learn what it means to be a real man. This story remains one of the most beautiful classics of growing up, relevant today because it reminds parents that pampering children is not the best pedagogical approach, and teaches children altruism and responsibility and the need to endure well-meaning prohibitions, "boring" classes and other obligations. Collodi in this story shows that love and responsibility towards others are not the easiest path, but they are the only ones that lead to a fulfilled and meaningful existence.
