Metropolis Art Cinema was opened on September 2, 2010 in the Gorgona Hall of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. He has been a member of the Europa cinemas chain since January 2013 as the leader of a mini group of six Croatian cinemas (Art Cinema Grič and Summer Cinema Tuškanac in Zagreb, Kino Novska, Cinema POU Daruvar and Kinoteka Zlatna vrata in Split). Gorgona Hall has 233 seats and is equipped with state-of-the-art projection equipment (35mm projector, 2K digital projector, subtitle projector) and sound system (Dolby).
The main program of the Metropolis Art Cinema shows European, American independent and world feature films selected not only from the world's most prestigious film festivals (Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Rome, Karlovy Vary, etc.) but also the repertoire of European art cinemas. The goal of this project is to qualitatively enrich the film repertoire, as well as the offer of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, with a carefully selected and artistically valuable film program. The Metropolis Art Cinema program is realized in cooperation with the Cultural Club from Zagreb, and the host of the program is film critic Zlatko Vidačković. The cinema program also includes Croatian short feature films, which are often shown as an introduction to feature films. The children's program shows selected Croatian, European and independent world animated and feature films for children.
