Faculty of Philosophy

The mission of the Faculty of Philosophy is to promote university education based on scientific work in all areas of social sciences and humanities, to encourage scientific work, top research and publishing the results of this research. In addition, the mission of the Faculty is to spread culture, strengthen international cooperation and participate in the construction of the European educational and research space. The Faculty of Philosophy, as the founder and one of the oldest components of the University of Zagreb, the largest, oldest and strongest Croatian university with the largest number of experts who educate future Croatian generations, has a special responsibility for the development of Croatia in general and as an institution with numerous connections and cooperation. Croatia's reputation should be promoted, and with Croatia's accession to the European Union, it should be a center of excellence for the immediate neighborhood but also for the whole of Europe. As a cultural and educational institution, the Faculty of Philosophy should promote a society of ethics, morals, tolerance and cooperation by presenting with its educational and scientific profile and professions in which the bridge of cooperation towards all neighboring and world cultures and languages operates, while protecting and promoting Croatian national interests. especially the use of the Croatian language in education, science, culture and society as a whole, but also its status in the European Union.

The vision of the Faculty of Philosophy is to be the world's top higher education and scientific research institution in the field of social sciences and humanities, which through teaching based on top research, through encouraging creativity and critical thinking educates future bearers of scientific, educational, cultural and overall development of Croatian society. , but at the same time promotes and actively acts on the preservation of Croatian identity. The Faculty of Philosophy is following the path of comprehensive integration into the ERA (European Research Area) and strives for full compliance with good practices in the EHEA (European Higher Education Area), promoting the highest quality standards in the scientific and higher education system. In doing so, the Faculty will create new and innovative standards of lifelong learning, opening opportunities for the whole society to acquire specific competencies in line with the needs of the time. Given the Faculty's commitment to rejuvenating teaching staff through the transfer of teaching competencies from excellent Croatian scientists and teachers of the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty is a unique heir and the strongest promoter of the highest educational standards and innovative practices in higher education and science in Croatia, mainly due to its efforts to improve quality management system at all levels of its operation. Raising the level of recognition of the achievements of scientists and teachers of the Faculty of Philosophy will inevitably increase the international recognition of the role of the Faculty, and thus will open the possibility of diversifying the sources of research funding that the Faculty strives for.
