IX. Bobby's Days of Laughter YOU KNOW WHO I AM

Imagine two brothers. They are our people, but they are still a bit worldly, that's how they look. Imagine them now as court counselors; at a French court, sometime in the eighteenth century. Then imagine them spanning a week and at the Russian court. And then in English. Imagine them now in all three places at once. On one they counterfeit money, on the other they sleep with the queen, and on the third they are tried, but they get away with excuses from the other two courts.

Now imagine that they are not two, but that there are at least seven of them. Maybe there are three after all. Wherever they go, they are greeted nicely, though they are not sure why. Wherever they go, it is immediately clear that they will not stay long. And we notice that they appear in all important, historical events. They always find themselves in the right place at the right time, but only as present, while someone else is always acting. They are just present; as court advisers, as guests of the court, as friends of our friends we haven't seen in a long time…

This play is based on characters modeled on the works of Stjepan Zanović and the poet Miroslav Zanović from the eighteenth century. The acting improvisations will create a performance text, with the use of historical records (Pavel Apolonovič Rovinski, Mihail Ivanovič Barsukov) and more recent novelized biographies of the mentioned historical figures (Milo Dor, Robert Bacalja). The plot will turn from historical facts and historical figures from the courts of the 18th century into absurd and fictional material, so in addition to the above, the famous King of Ubu Alfred Jarry will be used as a starting point. The play will focus precisely on historical relations, twisting facts, creating a non-linear flow, varying in style between stand-up, seminar presentation and drama.
