IX. Bobby's Days of Laughter MY KINGDOM (for beginners)

Author: David Javerbaum

Director: Ivan-Goran Vitez

"There was once a gentleman who was very, very lonely. He cried all day in the dark and couldn't remember the last time he'd done anything else. And then it dawned. Not to him, but simply dawned. And since then everything is different, as is our gentleman. He is simply too busy. He has millions of missed calls, an over-ambitious child, wealth only in the clouds and of course, his own demons. Because of all this, it is easy to predict uncontrolled outbursts of anger, the need for a man to get out of his midst, to revise history, and to start from scratch as much as possible. Just for you, tonight, in your city, three actors will tell… more precisely, through their bodies the story of this man will be told. Bring it into close connection with religion, belief, the only Truth, chalices, donkeys, and Mel Gibson, and you can guess who it is. Can you? Golden tongue, isn't it a holy cow? Neither is Jesus Christ. He is He. And only He. And no one else with him. Except for the helper. And the audience. Because without an audience there is no faith.

The play My Kingdom (for beginners) is based on the text by David Javerbaum, The Act of God (orig: An Act of God), which premiered on Broadway in 2015. The play was originally set as a series of monologues with short dialogic transitions, stylistically reminiscent mostly of a stand-up form, placing God at the center as a completely sensible and imperfect being. Since the form of the stand-up is based on the topicality of humorous points and the adaptation of the locality of the performance, the author's team chose this text as a starting point because it provides such a possibility of modification and adaptation. This show will not initially answer the question of chickens and eggs (actually it will in the first five minutes), nor will it prove whether there is life after death.

My Kingdom will remind you of all that we have learned through upbringing that we have not reexamined, making you laugh with a simple combination of logic and religion. Not to mention science. Dinosaurs. Come on, please. "
