11. SUMMER NIGHTS OF THE EXIT AWAKENING THEATER

She and He. Young. In love. Employees. Two salaries, good, secure jobs. Every day the same routine: waking up – showering – breakfast – driving to work – office – lunch break – office – driving from work – dinner – couch – TV – bed – waking up – showering – breakfast – driving to work – office – lunch break – office – drive from work – dinner – couch – TV – bed… Are they happy? They don't ask themselves unnecessary questions. It's part of the package. It goes without saying. When the clothes are crumpled, you iron them with your steam iron. When you sweat you take a hot shower from your electric water heater. When you're hungry you take a sandwich out of its plastic wrap. When you are tired you throw yourself on your memory foam mattress. The main thing is that the bombs don't fall on our heads. These are some other people's wars. It's just news. There are always wars somewhere. It's part of the package. It goes without saying. The main thing is that we are fine. And we are fine. All is well. Every day…

What day is today? Today is the day when nothing came out of the ATM except for a piece of paper that reads: "Transaction cannot be performed". Today is the day when you woke up and realized all the insignificance of your own life. So you decide to resist that vanity, ordinaryness, conventionality, technological manipulation, social norms and all the compromises of the world. And it's good for you, exciting and new. You're crumpled and you stink, but that doesn't bother you anymore. You care about the news. And for other people's wars. Now you run, finally, your own. It's good in your war. The main thing is that you are fine. And you're fine. All is well. Every day…

What day is today? Today is the day you got hungry. You hold your last can of beans in your hand, but the batteries in your can opener have leaked. Today is the day when it never occurred to you to go outside, take the first stone and smash that damn, tin thing. Instead, you peel the label and eat the paper. Today is a day when it is no longer about the insignificance of your life but about complete unpreparedness for it. Today is the day when you’re sorry you didn’t watch more documentaries about monkeys.

Today is the day when you sit in the darkness of the theater, in silence and say to yourself: “Oh, it's not Me! It is She and He. It's them. "

You’ll applaud them, because, that’s part of the package. It goes without saying. So you go to the ATM. So to the traffic – for new batteries.
