The program for children and youth of Animafest Zagreb 2020 , whose film part mostly takes place in the Cinematheque, includes the International Children’s Film Competition, an attractive Family Program with exciting feature films and thematic short selections, an optical toy workshop in the French Institute Mediatheque and free programs in the cultural centers of the City of Zagreb (Travno, Trešnjevka, Dubrava, Sesvete and Maksimir), as well as screenings in the Metropolis cinema of MSU and Urania .
Animafest Zagreb 2020 brings imaginative stories about friendship, family and travel
Due to the current epidemiological circumstances, the Children’s Film Competition will be available to primary and secondary school students and kindergarten age in their classrooms and classes and online in order to provide them with an opportunity to develop media literacy. For the Children’s Film Competition, the works are selected by media psychologist Martina Peštaj, editor of the Children’s and Youth Program of Radio Television of Slovenia, and categorized according to age into those for preschool children (4-7 years), younger schoolchildren (7-10 years), older schoolchildren (10 -14 years) and young adults (14+ years). A total of 41 films from this competition offer stories of friendship, family, imagination, love, courage, trust, memories and travel. Preschoolers can expect, for example, a forest choir, little animal friends, witches, badminton and birthday parties, younger schoolchildren plush, theater performances, skating and the sea, older schoolchildren space travel, a zoo, Lisbon and the coast, and young adult fugitives , dealing with the past, storms, caring for the environment and smartphones. Films The Children’s Film Competitions can be seen live in the Cinematheque Hall on Friday and Saturday, October 2 and 3, in the morning.
