Poetry and new faces in the focus of the Pula Book and Author Festival

With the inevitable "Breakfast with the author", the 26th edition of the Book Fair in Istria under the slogan "Where are we?" from 4 to 13 June 2021 presents some of the best local poets in the program "Poetry Heals", writers who perform in the premiere program "New Face of Pula" and many new titles that will be available in the large festival bookstore.

The grand opening of the Pula Book and Author Festival will be held in Prolaz sv. Teodora, on the plateau in front of the festival bookstore located in one of the halls of the former Arena Knitwear factory. All events during the ten days of the festival will take place in the courtyard of the Shipyard Pub.

Interviews with authors

Every day of the Fair begins with "Breakfast with the author". Petar Gudelj, Sinan Gudžević, Olja Savičević Ivančević, Svetislav Basara, Duško Šibl, Đurđica Čilić, Nada Gašić, Ivica Đikić and Ivica Buljan will take part in the conversation with culturologist and writer Aljoša Pužar. Premiere performances are the main determinant of the program "New Faces of Pula", and in front of the audience come Ivana Bodrožić, Tanja Stupar – Trifunović, Magdalena Blažević, Želimir Periš, Ena Katarina Haler and others. A novelty is the cooperation with the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb. Director Ivica Buljan, poet Monika Herceg, now in the role of playwright and selector of the domestic poetry program, Mirna Rustemović in charge of the selection of Slavic poets and actresses and actors of the Croatian National Theater are preparing to perform selected verses.

Among others, the multi-award winning Evelina Rudan, Dorta Jagić, who also comes with a prose work, and Sanja Baković, Lidija Deduš, Ana Brnardić, Marijana Radmilović present their poems.

Special dedication to the late Tonko Maroević

In memory of the recently deceased Tonko Maroević, a great friend and frequent guest of the Fair, his latest book "SIGNS, ATTITUDES, TRACE: insight into Croatian fine arts" will be presented.

In addition to the live program in the center of Pula, the Book Fair in Istria will be available in a live video broadcast via the Facebook page of the Fair and YouTube channel, in a radio broadcast on Radio Maestral (95.4 fm) which is a partner of the festival and on Internet radio.
