The spring festival opens the season of open-air events

Spring is the right time for new beginnings, and Welcome Spring, a festival of positive changes on April 28 "in a sustainable guise" opens the new street festival season. There will be concerts, quizzes, art programs and workshops, and we especially single out the Little Olympics of Waste, which is on the festival program every day. Every year, it gathers, in addition to ambitious citizens and people from public life, who compete in knowledge of waste with a lot of laughter. Silvija Hercigonja's contemporary dance school will introduce us to the magic of dance, and the Stampedo group will warm up the evening.

For five years, the festival team, members of the Nature for All association, have been educating children, young people and other visitors about the concept of sustainable development, climate change and waste in a fun and informal way, so they often say that they are "an ordinary festival with an unusual task". This year we are also talking about climate change and environmental protection as an important part of our everyday life. In order to encourage individuals as well as institutions to change, the Nature for All association at the Festival uses only plates, straws and other accessories, made of 100% biodegradable materials, and disposable plastic has been replaced by returnable cups.

Ten days of great program

In ten days, the participants will acquire new knowledge, learn new skills, exchange experiences with each other, have great fun and create minimal amounts of waste. The organizers' wish is to talk about serious topics in a casual way, through fun and practical workshops and competitions, so that the habits of children, young people and other residents of our beautiful city of Zagreb can slowly begin to change in the direction of a sustainable future. All-day programs will be held until May 7 in the meadow between Hrvatske bratska zajednica street and Vukovarska street. Stop by the Somersby garden with friends to chill, on weekends for exercise, yoga or a children's show, take a selfie, dance under the stars and feast in a good atmosphere.

A special program for May 1 has already been prepared – all-day entertainment, DJs, silk dancing, performers, drop-in workshops with a rich offer from our caterers, and in the evening you can expect 2 great concerts – Terminator and Neki Novi Klinci .

Marina Orsag on Wednesday 3.5. marks the 18th year of activity and presents the people of Zagreb with stand up, and El Circ prepares a circus show on 5.5. on Friday at 8 p.m. Drljos Hermanos always brings an abundance of bursting energy with his musical comedy. A very interesting, innovative workshop awaits the visitors of this festival – Poetry in a new format. Words are taken out of discarded books and given new life – that is, they write new songs.

Somersby and Carlsberg and K Žnidaršić and the Road Kill food truck will make sure your taste buds sing with happiness, but not because of the word trash, could the joy be greater?

Admission to all Festival programs held on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., on Fridays and Saturdays until 2 a.m. and on Sundays until 12 a.m. is free, pets (except crocodiles) are welcome.
