Museum Night 2024: List of programs

We present an extensive program of museums that are participating in the visited event this year

Museum Night 2024 will take place on Friday, January 26. And here is the list of museums:

18.00 – 01.00 ROMAN GOLDEN RING FROM THE FUNDS OF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM IN ZAGREB

For the Romans, the ring was more than just jewelry, and apart from its decorative purpose, as an ornament on the hand, it had a symbolic and magical meaning. In ancient sources it is mentioned under different names, most often as annulus. Depending on the material from which it was made, the ring had an important role in determining status in the military and civilian hierarchy. In the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb.

18.00 – 01.00 ALTAMIRA – A MASTERPIECE OF FIRST ART

The arrival of Homo sapiens in Europe about 45,000 years ago marked the beginning of the period known as the Upper Paleolithic, which is the age of Paleolithic cave art. From then until about 12,000 years ago, groups of people created art that shared similar substrates, techniques, and themes. In the AMZ Gallery, Pavla Hatza 6.

18.00 – 18.30 CEREMONIAL OPENING OF THE 19TH NIGHT OF THE MUSEUM

We are pleased that, in cooperation with the Croatian Museum Society, we are officially opening the 19th Museum Night at the Zagreb City Museum at 6 p.m.!

18.00 – 01.00 CATINO 20. CENTURY

The exhibition "Cata's 20th Century" presents the life path and creative work of Cate Dujšin – Ribar to the public, so that the memory of this strong woman, painter and poet will live on, until the renovation of the Memorial Collection of Dr. Ivan Ribar and Cate Dujšin – Ribar in Demetrova 3, damaged in the 2020 earthquake.

18.00 – 01.00 LANTERNA PLINSKA, SO I HAVE YOU WORKING

In the courtyard of the Zagreb City Museum, see the exhibition opened on the occasion of celebrating 160 years of gas lighting in Zagreb. It was opened on October 31, 2023, precisely on the big anniversary of the commissioning of the City gas plant. The exhibition was opened in the organization of MGZ and the Zagreb City Gas Plant and with the support of the Zagreb Tourist Board.

19.00 – 20.00 EXPERT GUIDANCE WITH THE EXHIBITION “CATINO 20TH CENTURY”

During the Night of the Museum, the author of the exhibition Cat's 20th Century, curator Vesna Vukelić Horvatić, will give expert guidance through the exhibition. The number of participants in guided tours is limited (maximum 30 visitors per guided tour). You must announce your arrival and check the availability of the appointment at least one day before (January 25), by e-mail to the address info@mgz.hr or by phone: 01/ 4851 361.

19.00 – 20.00 PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK "KIBICI PURGERA"

The book "Kibici Purgera", authored by Ph.D. Ivice Šute. The book deals with the phenomenon of "Građanski" and its supporters, between mass entertainment, passion and worldview in interwar Zagreb. Publisher: FF press, Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb Due to the limited space capacity, the number of participants is limited, and we suggest that those interested come a little earlier to ensure their place.

18.00 – 01.00 ESCAPE GAME "TREASURE OF THE BLACK QUEEN"

What do you get when you combine the excitement of the Escape game, the Museum of the City of Zagreb and the legend of the Black Queen in Museum Night? The mysterious escape adventure "Treasure of the Black Queen", in which players must find clues and solve puzzles and challenges hidden among ten thousand exhibits displayed throughout the Museum's permanent exhibition! The game was created in cooperation between MGZ and the Naratour mobile application. The price is 10 Euros.

21.00 – 22.00 EXPERT GUIDANCE WITH THE "CATINO 20TH CENTURY" EXHIBITION
