Regional breakdance battle in Zagreb

Breakdance battle, flea market, food from Sopal, pop-up tattoo studio, DJs and party until dawn

On June 28, the first Blok Party will be held in Zagreb, a new event initiated by three Zagreb urban collectives Street Mentality Squad, Groove Playaz and Blok Tattoo . The swamp will be the scene of a big battle that will bring together some of the strongest breakdancers from the region. The hosts of the event are Leo and Kosta, and the battle will be judged by the legends of the breaker scene Dirty Anthony (Zagreb), Goofy (Novi Sad) and Naki (Ljubljana). The winner of the Blok Party battle wins a monetary prize of 400 euros, the second place carries 200 euros and the third 100 euros, along with a series of sponsor prizes.

On the day of the breakdance battle, a flea market will be opened in Močvara where you can buy the works of some of the most famous and talented artists of two generations; Lunar and YCP, Tea Kis, Bartol Galović, Luisa Pascau and Borna Ivanuš , while famous Zagreb tattoo artists Blok Tatoo and Tetografija will open a pop up studio.

Ivan Zelenika and Matija Sušec , the chef duo from one of Zagreb's hottest restaurants, Katarina Vrenc's Sopala, are cooking at Blok Party. DJ Bon Toni from Groove Playaz and American DJ Amerigo Gazawa y are responsible for the music.

"We started Blok Party in order to create a platform for young visual artists, musicians and dancers, but also to move art away from the conventional settings of galleries, theaters, etc. Our goal is to develop Blok Party into two annual events as a place that will bring together authentic locals street art royalty", said Blok Party organizers in the announcement of the event.
