about

The Tuškanac Summer Stage was opened on July 6, 1954. It was designed by Kazimir Ostrogović, an architect who is the author of many famous projects, including the City Hall, the City of Zagreb, the building of the Ruđer Bošković Institute, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb, Villa “Zagorje”, Bank in Paromlinska and many others.

The summer stage ceased programming around 1970 and was neglected for a full 42 years until restoration and reopening on June 27, 2012. Although most citizens perceive the Summer Stage as a cinema, the stage is also suitable for various performative projects.

The auditorium is made up of benches and can accommodate 550 visitors. The film program consists of collaborations with film festivals, and since 2017 the own program of the August Cesarac Center for Culture and Film entitled “First row to the sea of films” is part of the entire film program that is shown during the summer season. The August Cesarac Center for Culture and Film has been a user of the Tuškanac Summer Stage since the end of 2016.
