ZGDW Food Design
ZGDW Food Design in the context of this year's theme of the festival questions the impact of the corona pandemic on dining and the future brought by numerous restrictions aimed at preventing infection. Boir, a Croatian studio specializing in the design of dining utensils, designed an installation that confronts the "normality" we knew and the "new normality".
Mirrored symmetrically facing the two spaces are connected by a large dining table. It shows two different ways of serving food in the context of public events and restaurants. Boir has offered new conceptual proposals for cutlery that, despite new restrictions, retains an important social and cultural dimension of food – sharing.
The historical exhibition "Zagreb Packaging" from the Bulaić Collection reveals today the unimaginable strength of the Zagreb industry created in Austro-Hungary. From Ark and Bizjak to Penkala and Union, today's forgotten companies and designers have created visual identities and packaging that represent a valuable heritage of Croatian and world design. Most of the exhibits were created between the two world wars. The curator of the exhibition is Maja Arčabić.
Design students from eleven schools and faculties will present their works – Zagreb Polytechnic, University North, University of Rijeka – Academy of Applied Arts, University of Zagreb – Faculty of Agriculture / Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Architecture / Design, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Textile Technology, Technical Polytechnic of Zagreb and School of Applied Arts and Design.
