Jazz.hr/jesen festival celebrates its 30th birthday – celebratory edition

This year’s Jazz.hr/jesen festival celebrates its big, 30th birthday, and from the “Blagoje Bersa” hall at the Music Academy in Zagreb from October 14 to 17, the audience will have the opportunity to listen to great musicians from the domestic and foreign jazz scene. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all concerts will be available via streaming.

On Wednesday, October 14, at a concert entitled “MUSE of prof. Jazz ”will feature pianist Vladimir Babin, guitar trio Elvis Penava, The Cool Jazz Duo (pianist Veljko Glodić and saxophonist Saša Nestorović) and pianist David Gazarov. A day later, Jazz Continuo will perform: a group of bass guitarists Mario Mavrin, guitarist Primož Grašič and vibraphonist Vid Jamnik who will perform works by the great Boško Petrović. On Friday, October 16, the excellent Hojsak & Novosel, a duo known for their combination of tambourine and double bass, will perform, joined by Slovenian drummer Žan Tetičkovič. The festival will close on Lucy Woodward on Saturday, October 17th. She is a singer-songwriter who has made important collaborations with the American ensemble Snarky Puppy, and has also collaborated with legends such as Rod Stewart, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Joe Cocker and Chaka Khan. Woodward has performed with various big bands around the world, and has released four albums for reputable record labels.

Given the situation with the coronavirus pandemic and due to security measures, all performances will be broadcast via streaming on the HRTi platform. The concert of the group Jazz Continuo will be broadcast live on the 3rd channel of HTV. All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.

As in previous years, the celebratory festival Jazz.hr / jesen will be accompanied by music workshops that will be held in the HDS hall at Berislavićeva 9 in Zagreb. Elvis Penava will hold his workshop on October 14, Saša Nestorović’s workshop will be on October 15, Veljko Glodić will hold his workshop a day later, and David Gazarov on the last day of the festival. All workshops begin at 11 a.m.

The organizer of the concert is Jazz.hr HDS. The main idea of Jazz.hr is to enable the local audience to come to the concerts of the highest quality jazz musicians, to educate young musicians through concerts, workshops and direct cooperation with world stars, as well as to arrange international cooperation, by opening the door to Croatian jazz musicians for performances abroad. stages.
