FUTURE SOUND OF ZAGREB, najdugovječniji, najveći i najpoznatiji domaći klupski festival elektroničke glazbe ove godine slavi jubilarnu 20-u godišnjicu. Uz do sada najveću i najglasniju produkciju, plešemo dva dana zaredom u poznatom zagrebačkom klubu Boogaloo koji se pokazao kao najbolja klupska lokacija u gradu koja jamči vrhunske produkcijske uvjete za održavanje FSOZ festivala.

Ovogodišnji jubilarni FSOZ “20YRS” u dva dana predstavlja naše posebne goste i 25 poznatih domaćih DJa raznih generacija od kojih su neki postavili temelje i dali veliki doprinos sceni u proteklih 20 i više godina. Tu su i mnogi drugi aktualni domaći top DJi/producenti raznih glazbenih stilova, kao i rezidenti iz nekoliko poznatih zagrebačkih klubova

PRVI DAN, u petak 22/11/2019 pozivamo vas na veliko otvaranje na kojem će nastupiti FSOZ “All Stars Legends”, petoro istinskih pionira domaće scene koji su dio ove naše “20YRS” priče od njenih samih početaka pa sve do današnjih dana i koje svi dobro poznajete a to su FRAJMAN, TOXIC, KIKI, MARY i DAMIR LUDVIG.

DRUGI DAN, u subotu 23/11/2019 ponosno predstavljamo veliki FSOZ “20YRS” spektakl. Plešemo od 22-12h na 3 tematska floora / Techno / Fusion / Psytrance / uz nastupe 20 poznatih domaćih top artista i uz naše posebne i poznate goste iz Španjolske, Srbije i Hrvatske.

Velika nam je čast i zadovoljstvo najaviti i naše posebne goste i headlinere ovogodišnjeg FSOZ festivala a to su CRISTIAN VARELA, poznati španjolski techno virtuoz koji je nedavno obilježio 25 godina karijere s posebnim dokumentarcem Music, Passion & Respect i MARKO NASTIĆ, jedan od vodećih regionalnih DJa koji je također prošle godine sa svojim velikim “Retrospektaklom” proslavio 20 godina karijere pa su se tako i oni savršeno uklopili u ovu našu proslavu 20e FSOZ godišnjice.

I to nije sve: Kao šećer na kraju pridružit će nam se posebna gošća, INSOLATE, najpoznatija i trenutno najtraženija hrvatska techno diva također prisutna na domaćoj i internacionalnoj sceni već 20 godina.

BIOGRAPHY :

CRISTIAN VARELA:
The history of electronic music holds a special place for this Madrileño artist who has played a crucial role in building the Spanish industry as we know it today.

Since 1991, Cristian Varela has been at the heart of some of the most important episodes of this evolution, emerging as a true pioneer in the most diverse arts that make up the landscape of this profession today.
He was one of the first electronic artists to produce live recordings, to perform using 4 turntables and to play at major events and festivals.

He also set up schools and agencies for national and international artists and founded two record labels that have gone on to have a global impact since 1999: Black Codes Experiments and P0RN0GRAPH1C Music, with which he currently promotes tours in big cities such as London, Amsterdam, Madrid, Tokyo, Barcelona, Frankfurt and Miami, whilst also promoting new talent.

Some of the greats of the industry have passed through his record label, such as Regis, Ken Ishii, The Advent, Carl Cox and Joseph Capriati.
His advanced vision has always placed him as one of the trailblazers and key ambassadors of our music scene on a global level, and one the biggest names with a tremendous influence and legacy for the new generations of international producers and DJs.

Alongside his brother, Luis Varela, he has also created macro electronic events in Spain such as Phrenetic Society, Epsilon, Electrosonic Festival, Electrobeach and his new production VARELIVE; just some of the initiatives and creations that endorse Cristian Varela as a true icon and legend of techno music.
His charisma has allowed him to gain the respect and support of leading artists who consider him one of the most technically talented DJs on the planet.

A giant with more than 200 productions behind him, he was the first Spanish artist to bring live techno music to channels such as TVE, MTV and VIVA and since 1996 he has appeared at high calibre festivals such as I Love Techno, Nature One, Awakenings, Tomorrowland, ULTRA Music Miami, Dance Valley, Mayday, Monegros, Aquasella, Shockers, Medusa, Dreambeach and many more.
That is why his radio show is broadcast on more than 100 stations in 30 different countries.

Far from resting on his laurels, in 2015 Cristian released VARELIVE; a twist on live electronic music, in real time with creative freedom and using Emulator technology. He is also involved in different charitable projects and campaigns with the Spanish Foundation for Help against Drug Addiction (FAD) and the Spanish Road Traffic Authority (DGT), who awarded him with the Onda Cero Award 2015 for Road Safety. He has been involved with shows in aid of the Red Cross and his current project, Varela Concept, is a collection of 12 tracks that aim to raise the public’s awareness about the planet and the environment.

Since 1986, he has composed soundtracks for cinema, theatre, advertising and shows. In 2011 he also recorded a symphonic album at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, with the participation of some of the best chamber musicians and mixed by the maestro Sam Okell. His most recent public performances have come at the fashion shows of the Spanish royal family’s famed designer, Felipe Varela. but not only did he compose the music for the shows, he also performed live.

The Madrid-born musician has been based in London for some years, where he works as a Beta Tester with one of the leading musical instruments companies, ROLAND.
In 2019 he signed a bi-monthly residency at one of the most prestigious clubs in the United Kingdom (E1-London) where he holds events with his own record label Black Codes Experiments with collaborating artists such as Regis, Mark Broom, Arnaud Le Texier, Takaaki Itoh, Inigo Kennedy, Tensal, ABtract División, Refracted and Bas Mooy. He also has a new weekly radio show in the London studios of Bloop Radio- Holborn.

Over the last 28 years, Cristian Varela has forged a stellar career, receiving more than 40 awards and dozens of nominations from the music industry media. He treasures many awards naming him Spain’s best DJ-Producer. The recognition gained at the International DJ Awards warrants a separate mention, where he was named the World’s Best Techno DJ!

The unstoppable Cristian Varela’s great achievements are why he has been considered a true specialist of contemporary, symphonic and experimental music for decades.

MARKO NASTIĆ
Welcome to the world of Marko Nastic, the leading South Eastern European DJ. In a troubled Serbia of the 90’s, Marko and his buddies built one of the most vibrant club scenes in Eastern Europe, the one that inspired writers of Mixmag, The Face, DJ and NME to write accolades many moons ago. They resisted dark forces of political madness through electronic music and a celebration of life. DJing and music were always part of Marko Nastic’s background: even in his pre-teen years he was fascinated with synthesizers, drum machines and other sound making gadgets.

When techno started filtering through to Serbia in the early 90’s, Marko eagerly entered the scene. Soon word on a teenage techno prodigy started spreading around town and this energy channeled into a young & aspiring DJ team called Teenage Techno Punks – all of whom were under 18. Nastic was the leader of the pack, soon to become the hottest talent of South Eastern Europe’s electronic scene. The queues to enter clubs in the region on the nights they performed were longer than ever. The word soon started to spread beyond the boundaries of Serbia.

Just as techno music was becoming popular in Serbia, the Balkan conflict escalated. Marko was too young to fully realize the gravity of the situation, but it did have an impact on his life. “Things were tense, but a lot of it luckily went over my head,” he admits. “It also meant that buying records then was very difficult and the choice was poor”. These circumstances shaped and strengthened Marko just like other kids there. The free parties they threw during those times are still an urban legend in Belgrade.

After the war, the club scenes in neighboring countries became aware of Nastic’s unparalleled DJing skills and his distinctive three-deck style. Marko has since matured into a DJ who cannot be labeled as purely techno, house or minimal; he’s all of that, and more. Marko was a member of the original Recycled Loops crew. After that label stopped, Marko joined Valentino Kanzyani’s ‘Jesus Loved You’ and started three labels himself, Recon Warriors, which put Marko on the charts, followed by Recon Light and Traffica.

Also Marko has loads of projects running at the moment. For example Space Explorers with Marko Milosaljevic, Tango and Cash with Kobaya and don’t forget the projects with Dejan Milicevic. Marko did his first non-European tour in 2002, which started in Brazil. Now he regularly plays gigs all over the world. Since 2006 he is the author and host of the radio show “Music For Body And Soul” on the leading Serbian radio station B92. His artist album is due to be released.

INSOLATE
(Out of Place, Deeply Rooted, Modularz // Croatia)
Sometimes the darkest feelings provide, in a painful paradox, the biggest of pleasures. The DJ and producer Insolate demonstrates the truth of this analysis by producing rough & dark techno infused with emotion inspired by her 20 years as a DJ. Hailing from Osijek, Croatia, on the wide Croatian East – a town that at ﬁrst glance a heavy industrial atmosphere overshadows – this is where she made ﬁrst steps as a DJ back in 1997 before taking over European and worldwide clubs.

She’s already played some of the world’s most renowned clubs including Berghain, Rex, Tresor, Under Club, Club d’Anvers, Unter, Exit Festival, Tomorrowland, ADE and Dimensions Festival plus numerous Colombian tours over the years and USA tour and Argentina added to the list in 2018. As a producer, she’s had a string of releases on highly respected labels including DJ Deep’s Deeply Rooted, Marcelus’s Singular and Developer’s Modularz – supported and played by some of techno’s ﬁnest including Laurent Garnier, DVS1, Dax J and Ilario Alicante.

This year, she also released the stellar Obscure Object Of Desire EP on JoeFarr’s new User Experience imprint, two original tracks that stroke the perfect balance between groove, power and emotion. She also contributed to Ben Sim’s compilation Tribology among giants as Planetary Assault Systems, Oscar Mulero, Steﬃ etc. and also made super interesting collaboration with french producer Arnaud le Texier and released EP with him for Prodigal Son. Insolate is also a major contributor to the Croatian techno scene, so much so that she was in Ibiza to receive the award for “Dance Nation of the Year” at the DJ Awards on behalf of her nation.

Her and long-time partner in crime Volster also run the event series TRAUM in her native Osijek. Not traditionally a city with a strong techno scene, the TRAUM events have cemented their place in the clubbing calendar with quality artists like Paula Temple, Antigone, Cassegrain, Janice, Etapp Kyle and Milton Bradley. The success of the TRAUM nights caught the attention of Red Bull Music Academy and Dimensions – both of which they have hosted oﬃcial events for. Insolate being an international messenger of techno was recognised by Ambassador award that gave her a title “Croatia’s ambassador overseas” for 2017.

The ﬁnal part of putting Osijek on the techno map was taken in 2015 with the launch of the label Out Of Place which Insolate runs with Volster. The label was named in honour of the beautiful struggle of carving your own way into the scene from a place that’s well oﬀ the grid from the traditional capitals of techno. Now three releases strong, the label has already had contributions from heavyweights like Milton Bradley and Developer. Label is currently on the 4th edition with a new release coming out in summer 2018 including artists Francois X, JoeFarr and Disrupted Project. As a DJ, Insolate is well known for her no-compromise, pure-bred techno sets.

It’s clear to anyone who’s seen her perform that she’s an artist with a lot of experience but also plenty of inspiration and ambition, and a deep knowledge of techno. She is simply a natural presence in a DJ booth. If you’ve seen her play, you will know exactly what this means.
