{"id":29908,"permalink":"https:\/\/divan.fyi\/en\/place\/tunel-gric\/","title":"Gri\u010d tunnel","content":"<p> The Gri\u010d tunnel in <a title=\"Zagreb\" href=\"https:\/\/hr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zagreb\">Zagreb<\/a> is a <a title=\"Tunnel\" href=\"https:\/\/hr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tunel\">tunnel<\/a> below <a title=\"Gradec (Zagreb)\" href=\"https:\/\/hr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gradec_(Zagreb)\">Gradec<\/a> (Gri\u010d) that connects Mesni\u010dka and Radi\u0107eva streets, and exits vertically in three places in Ilica and once in Tomi\u0107eva street to the south. The tunnel is 350 meters long, for the most part 3.2 meters wide while in the central part it is 5.5 meters wide. It was opened to the public in July 2016, although it was previously opened as a shelter for citizens and a venue for cultural events during the <a title=\"Homeland war\" href=\"https:\/\/hr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Domovinski_rat\">Homeland War<\/a> . <\/p>\n<p> The Gri\u010d tunnel was designed in 1943 during the <a title=\"Independent State of Croatia\" href=\"https:\/\/hr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nezavisna_Dr%C5%BEava_Hrvatska\">Independent State of Croatia<\/a> , when the Allied bombing began, and was completed in 1945. After <a title=\"World War II\" href=\"https:\/\/hr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Drugi_svjetski_rat\">II. During World War II<\/a> , they tried to give the tunnel a function for years: from a garage to an atomic shelter, but none of that worked.
