The Ethnographic Museum has started a large exhibition project Toys – Childhood Forever, which will last until May 22, 2022. The project includes 12 exhibitions: two of the Ethnographic Museum and ten guest, and begins with a central ethnographic exhibition of the same name called Toys – Childhood Forever.<\/p>\n

Central exhibition "Toys – childhood forever"<\/p>\n

The exhibition is conceived as a journey through the history of toys and games from the holdings of the Ethnographic Museum, created in Croatia and by Croatian authors in the period from the end of the 19th century to the present day. With interactive content and oversized children's toys from Marija Bistrica, visitors can enjoy many favorite cartoons such as Professor Balthazar and Little Flying Bears, produced by Zagreb Film, which is also a partner of the project.<\/p>\n

On the ground floor of the museum, as part of the permanent exhibition of the Collection of Non-European Cultures, there is an exhibition Playing around the World in which interesting toys intended for children of different cultures from Asia, South America, Africa to Australia are displayed.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE PROJECT<\/p>\n

Through inter-museum and inter-institutional connections, the Ethnographic Museum will provide the audience with the additional pleasure of enjoying children's toys and games every month. As part of a series of small exhibitions entitled Visiting the Ethnographic Museum, it will host the Croatian History Museum, the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Croatian School Museum, the Museum of Arts and Crafts, the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb, the Croatian Sports Museum and two famous Zagreb craftswomen, designers of children's toys, Jasmina Kosanovi\u0107 and Leo Vavra, who create children's toys in the heart of Zagreb. The largest and oldest organization for children in Croatia, which has been operating continuously for more than seventy years – the Association of Societies "Our Children" of Croatia, is also participating in the project. The authors of the guest exhibitions will be the curators of the mentioned museums and the authors of the toys, and they will place their exhibits according to their own choice and concept in the representative hall of the Ethnographic Museum on the first floor. With their artistic expression, the students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb will beautify the Museum space where museum pedagogues have designed a rich and diverse educational program during the project, and all content will be published on the igra\u010dke.emz.hr platform and social networks.<\/p>\n

With this large project realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media, the City of Zagreb – City Office of Culture and the Zagreb Tourist Board, we want to encourage visitors to return to museums, to enjoy the beauty of toys and games that are part of our childhood.<\/p>\n

Muzej je smje\u0161ten na Trgu Ma\u017eurani\u0107a br. 14, u reprezentativnoj secesijskoj zgradi, koja se pripisuje arhitektu Vjekoslavu Bastlu, u doba gradnje zaposlenom u uredu arhitekata H\u00f6nigsberga i Deutscha. Gra\u0111ena za potrebe Trgova\u010dko-obrtnog muzeja, otvorenog 1904. godine, sve do danas ostaje jedna od rijetkih zgrada namjenski gra\u0111ena za potrebe muzejske djelatnosti u Hrvatskoj. Sredi\u0161nji prostor, kupolu, s vanjske strane krase kipovi kipara Rudolfa Valdeca, dok je unutra\u0161njost kupole oslikao slikar Oton Ivekovi\u0107. Za izlaganje etnografske gra\u0111e unutra\u0161njost zgrade prilago\u0111avana je adaptacijama prostora, od kojih je posljednju osmislio 1972. godine arhitekt Aleksandar Freudnereich.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
