The esteemed Berlin Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Gallery is coming to Zagreb for the first time from October 6 to 11 to present its work and the artists working under its auspices. For Zagreb, this means another interesting exhibition of world renown.<\/p>\n
The works of internationally known artists such as Trisha Bag, Peter Cortright, Kaspar M\u00fcller, Jeanette Mundt, Bunny Rogers, Timur Si-Qin, Ned Vena, Lu Yang will mark their first presentation to the Croatian audience. The exhibition will consist of 12 carefully selected works that will fit nicely into the intimate ambience of the space at De\u017emanova ulica 1.<\/p>\n
The Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Gallery opened in 2008, has since become one of the most progressive names in the world of contemporary art and regularly presents itself at Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, Art Basel Hong Kong, Frieze in London, Frieze in New York, Independent in New York. York, Independent in Brussels, Art Cologne, Art Brussels, Gallery Weekend Berlin, abc Berlin and many other locations. Most gallery artists had their first solo exhibition in the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9, and since then they have been seen in galleries and museums such as the New Museum NY, Whitney Museum, Museum of Modern Art NY, Pirelli Hangar Bicocca Milan, Hamburger Bohnhof Berlin, Mus\u00e9e d ‘Art Moderne Paris, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin and many others.<\/p>\n
In their works, Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 artists touch on the relationship between cultural production and consumption, the circulation of information, identity and cultural history in an era that is largely networked by technology. This framework has become widespread in the field of contemporary art and gallery artists who offer important perspectives on these issues – are gaining increasing attention from international audiences and institutions.<\/p>\n
Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 also tests the limitations of what a gallery can produce and with whom. The gallery’s publishing initiative – Edition Soci\u00e9t\u00e9, in collaboration with writer and editor John Beeson, has also collaborated with established graphic designers on the books of many renowned artists, including Kaspar M\u00fcller’s “Sch\u00e4tze der Erinnerung”. In addition, Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 is also very active in the music industry; produced 12 LPs by several contemporary musicians under the musical direction of Nico Xedro, and presented Cory Arcangels’ “Dances For The Electric Piano” at the Berlin Philharmonic. At the Frieze International Fair in New York in 2016, the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Gallery exclusively presented artist Sean Crucifix, in collaboration with the American brand Soylent and Berlin fashion designer Nhu Duong.<\/p>\n
