The energetic Mrs. Zahrádková and her husband want to preserve at all costs the building in which they live, which is in rather poor condition. In order to achieve this, Ms. Zahrádková decides to persuade the other co-owners of the apartments in the building to take joint action, which will not be easy at all. Namely, while the newly married young couple Bernášek willingly and enthusiastically join them, Ms. Procházková and Mr. Novák have different plans and want to assess both individual and joint assets. And there are Mr. Nitranský, who longs for life in the countryside, and Mrs. Roubíčková, who in principle has nothing against joint action, but under certain conditions. But there is also Mr. Kubát who will soon begin to sabotage all decisions and the whole action.

In 2020, out of 12 nominations for the most prestigious Czech film award, the Czech Lion won the Best Leading Award (Tereza Voriskova from the play Village Teacher by Bohdan Slamé, the award-winning animated drama Alois Nebel by Tomáš Luňák and the drama series Missing with Ashley Judd) and the supporting female role. Melísková from The Protector of Marek Najbrt and Tiger Theory by Radek Bajgar) and the most successful screenplay, the humorous drama by screenwriter and director Jiří Havelka is an adaptation of his own play. As a director, Havelka also staged this play in the Prague Theater in the 2017/18 season, performed by the esteemed ensemble VOSTOS, and since the play was praised, it is not surprising that he applied a similar performance of prose on the film set. In that sense, the film has an obvious theatrical background, but that doesn’t particularly matter because the events are quite dynamic with an effectively solved mise-en-scène, they are witty and fun. Havelka mostly exploits the comedy of situation and character, where these characters are, as expected, well typed, and the author mocks typical human flaws and virtues conveniently and with a lot of understanding, empathy and altruism.
