Museums in a museum

The Nikola Tesla Technical Museum gathered museums in a special program called MUSEUMS IN THE MUSEUM.

All together they have prepared 9 creative and interesting workshops for audiences of all ages who will be able to participate in them for free this Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4, 2020, between 10 am and 1 pm. You can come and stay as desired within 3 hours of the workshops because the workshops are designed to be repeated periodically.

No prior notice or reservation is required to participate in the workshops. Workshop participants will be able to take their work with them.

All workshops are held at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum.

Museums in the museum – program of events Technical Museum Nikola Tesla

Brum brum (Saturday, October 3, 2020) – people have always been interested in the idea of getting from point A to point B in the simplest and fastest way possible, with as little energy loss as possible. Numerous inventors throughout history have tried to construct a vehicle that will just to start, but the car as we know it today was invented only at the end of the 19th century. After getting acquainted with the cars from the Transport Department of the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, the workshop participants will make an air-powered car themselves. Of course a race will follow!

In the company of bees (Sunday, October 4, 2020) – in the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla there is an Apisarium – glass hives with live bees. Participants will be able to visit the Museum Apisarium, followed by practical work. With simple materials and on an enlarged scale, participants replicated the basic structure of the hive, which is both a beautiful natural and perfect mathematical form, which is often the inspiration for various branches of human activity, from technique to design, architecture, etc. In the museum courtyard honey and finally sweeten up with this delicious and healthy bee product!

Archaeological Museum in Zagreb

We write and read hieroglyphs (Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, 2020) – is one of the most popular workshops of the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb. At the workshop, participants will use simplified hieroglyphs to create bookmarks on which to write their name. The name will be additionally decorated with a cartouche as the pharaonic names were written in ancient Egypt.

Egyptian Pyramid (Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, 2020) – Almost everyone knows that ancient Egypt is known for its great pyramids. There are many stories about the pyramids, their way of building and what they were used for. In this workshop, participants will make small cardboard models of pyramids and decorate them at their own discretion.

Croatian History Museum

Slightly sunken ship from the 16th century (Saturday, October 3, 2020) – at the workshop, participants will learn a lot of interesting information about the daily life of people from the late Renaissance in Croatia and Europe and will get acquainted with underwater archeology and a significant site near the island Gnalić searching for seabed objects and assembling them – such as real underwater archaeologists and researchers, and educational games – in the form of Memory Cards and making toys and decorations from objects similar to emerged ones (for which they were intended), which participants then remember. !!

Stories from Croatian history (Sunday, October 4, 2020) – at the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to get acquainted with many preserved myths, legends and stories about heroes from the Croatian past, and in the creative part of the workshop they will create their own art depictions and puzzles. they will be left for a memory and a game after the workshop!

* since for a complete game with dice-puzzles a total of 12 dice need to be made, children and the youngest in their creation will benefit from (apart from the help of the facilitators) the help of parents or friends – in the form of creative teamwork!
