One of our most prominent contemporary playwrights places his comedy The Legend of Saint Muhla in the native ambience of the Imotski region. Directly inspired by Boccaccio’s famous collection of short stories inhabited by people with many flaws and some virtues, he at the same time plays with the pious genre of medieval legend, combining the serious with the ridiculous, the supernatural with the mundane, the sacred with the corporeal and the superstitious, parodying all. often clad in high moral attire, they generally reveal themselves as constantly focused on satisfying their own sensual needs. The main character, the cunning deceiver Muhlo, like Boccaccio’s Fr. Lorenzo, will undertake a whole series of intrigues for the purpose of personal lascivious gratification and new erotic games…
