Unique garden fun Unique garden fun: The drive brings you a free concert by The Marshmallow Notebooks and Jonathan!

After closing, opening, closing, seismic tremors, snow in March, flooding of basements and apartments, Pogon’s Unique Garden Fun is back! The Marshmallow Notebooks and Jonathan will play at this year's edition of gatherings and concerts in the yard of the Jedinstvo Plant on Sunday, September 27.

The unique garden party is a project of Pogon – Zagreb Center for Independent Culture and Youth, which through a concert, workshops and accompanying programs opens the entire space of Pogon Jedinstvo to the residents of the neighborhood, existing and future audiences.

Before the concerts, the program includes the Kulturpunkt quiz for cultural geeks in the courtyard. For art lovers, there is the Prostror / time / sound program as part of the Participatory Drives of the Season, a performance that will be possible to watch in the space of the great Jedinstvo hall.

Jonathan

Founded in 2011 in Rijeka, Jonathan makes five friends with different musical backgrounds. The instant chemistry and ease of creating a whole new sound moved Jonathan in a new direction, and the name itself is a feature of the various personalities and characters that brought them together in one project. From the very beginning, the line-up consists of vocals Zoran Badurina who comes from the former Salions, drummer Branko Kovačić, a longtime member of Leta3, the rhythm engine is the band Mlat and former Salion bandmaster, Darko Petković, guitar and Nikica Jurjević, bass, are part of Rijeka's punk legend, cult dogs , and Tomislav Radinović once refreshed the sound of Mandril.

Since then, these five experienced musicians have been on a mission to remove musical and language barriers. A new release of the two-part concept album, called To Love Or To Hold, is in preparation. The first part of To Love came out in early 2017 and the second part of To Hold is expected later this year. Jonathan has toured many festivals and clubs, and especially memorable performances at Exit, InMusic, Pula Film Festival and Ferragosto Jam. With performances at the Waves Festival in Vienna and Bratislava, at CuntRa la Kunsthure in the very center of Graz, as well as at the Slovenian edition of the Flow Festival, Jonathan is slowly building an international fan base.

The Marshmallow Notebooks

The Marshmallow Notebooks will announce the release of the long-awaited Destruction LP in the yard of Jedinstvo, from which several announcing singles have already been downloaded. The live line-up of the band that had its concert premiere at last year's Tabor Film Festival includes Matija Habijanec (guitar, vocals), Katarina Stamenkovska (violin), Josip Visković (clarinet, synth), Karlo Cmrk (bass) and Antonio Hanžek (drums).

The Marshmallow Notebooks is a project of Krapina's pro-songwriter Matija Habijanc who "released" a dozen no-fi and lo-fi albums under the old moniker Marshmallow since 1997. Destruction LP will be the first The Marshmallow Notebooks album after the eponymous record from 2013 (LP, Noisy Night Records) which sold out, after which the album was reissued in Canada (LP, Dirty Old Records, 2016) with one bonus track. In addition to the members of the current live line-up, Vlado Mlady, Oliver Kovač, Vatroslav Miloš, Hrvoje Nikšić, Ana Franjić, Ivana Starčević and others are also playing and singing on the upcoming album.

About the Drive

The facility exists as an institution to provide spatial and organizational support to programs in the fields of contemporary art and culture, youth education programs and programs aimed at civil society development.

A unique garden party has been held every summer since 2017 as an all-day gathering with workshops, quizzes, concerts, installations, a concert and a dance party. Dragons, origami sculptures, thermini, outdoor installations were made, juggling and dancing with concerts by Jimmy Stanić, Drago Diklić and Zdenka Kovačiček. At the romance of the yard, under the circus tent of Cirkorama, we insist this year with a slightly different musical direction and accompanying program.

Our garden is your garden – see you at a responsible and cheerful gathering!
